Evaluation Question

My film ‘Subconscious’ is a low-budget, British, independent film that will be produced and distributed by an independent entertainment company. It has a full British cast therefore it has a niche audience. My production company would solely specialize in low-budget independent movies. For low-budget films such as mine small distributors are perfect as there is a small niche audience and market. I wouldn’t expect my film to have national or global success or even for it to be distributed on a massive scale of media platforms e.g. Netflix, DVD, Blu-ray, Amazon etc. As it is a low- budget movie there will not be as much marketing as you will find for a Hollywood blockbuster. 

 

An example of an independent distribution company that would promote and distribute my film is Optimum Releasing. They specialize in promoting and distributing action/thriller movies. A few examples of films that were distributed by Optimum Releasing are ‘Attack the Block’ and ‘Baseline’. An example of another distribution company is Revolver Entertainment who distributed the film ‘Ill Manors’ and ‘Dead Man Running’. Revolver Entertainment is one of the UKs leading independent production and distribution company. And to grab the attention of a company like this, like in the films mentioned above there will be at least one (moderately) high-profile actor that creates the buzz and attention around the film in the first place.
